Coffee Filter Butterflies

Lots of butterflies are fluttering around the Sellars home.
Coffee Filter Butterflies that is.

Here's a super easy and fun craft to make with the kiddos.

Colorful butterflies!

All you need (per butterfly) are:
-2 coffee filters
-1 pipe cleaner
-markers

Step 1:
Color both coffee filters with markers.

Step 2:
Slowly sprinkle some water onto your colored coffee filter until the marker begins to bleed.

The more water you add the more it will bleed.

Allow to dry.

*Be careful not to add too much water. The color seems to continue to bleed while it is drying.

Step 3:
Once your coffee filters are dry, take each filter and pinch them in the center to form the wings.

Step 4:
Place your two pinched coffee filters together as shown above.

Step 5:
Fold your pipe cleaner in half and insert the two wings inside the opening of your folded pipe cleaner. Twist the pipe cleaner together to secure. Shape the tips of your pipe cleaner to look like antennas.

* This step is kind of hard to explain but super easy to do. Hopefully the picture helps to clarify things :)

Ta Da!
One Tie Dye looking butterfly!

These would be super cute hung from fishing line to decorate a room :)

That project is always a winner! I have done it many times but not with two coffee filters, good idea 1
